Spanish Modern Porch Enclosure

We envisioned the space to exude warmth and relaxation. Drawing inspiration from the styles and materials we've encountered and adored during our travels to California, we aimed for a light and bright foundation to establish the room's ambiance. Opting for a soft white paint with white oak accents, we set the stage to fill the room with elements reminiscent of our favorite vacation spots.

Our choices included a star + cross terracotta-looking tile and an aged brass chandelier, along with sconces that infuse an old-world charm. We designed and built primitive butcher block benches with scalloped edges, that we adorned with unique textiles collected over time, injecting the space with vibrant pops of color.

Identifying the narrow space behind the newly wood-slatted fireplace, we seized the opportunity to create a swanky little bar area. We selected a ceiling-mounted metal and glass shelving system to house our glassware, imparting a chic hotel vibe. The bar itself, a find from Facebook Marketplace, underwent alterations, sanding, and refinishing. Finally, we fashioned a charming sitting area by the window, establishing a cozy anchor point for people to savor and enjoy.

We were able to take a small area and create an open space that feels much larger than it is. The shiplap ceilings, walls and trim painted in a soft white with large black windows create an airy feeling that works seamlessly with the rest of the home.

“We use it for a lot more than gathering for meals, we gather there for business meetings, host celebrations, and relaxation…it as really turned into a special space to enjoy.”
